WATCH: Sourav Ganguly 141 against South Africa, ICC KnockOut semi final, 2000

Sourav Ganguly scored an unbeaten 141 to guide India to the finals of the ICC Knockout tournament played at Nairobi, 2000. India had beaten Kenya in the preliminary quarter final and Australia in the quarter final to set up the clash against South Africa in the semi finals.

India posted a healthy total of 295 and South Africa got all out for 200 in the chase.

WATCH: Brian Lara's half century in the WA Festival of Cricket Twenty20

Brian Lara entertained with a fine unbeaten 51 in the Western Australia Festival of Cricket Twenty20 match between the Perth Scorchers and Australian Legends played at Perth’s Aquinas College in December 2014. The match pitted the KFC T20 Big Bash League reigning champions Scorchers against an all-star Legends XI led by Adam Gilchrist and included Brian Lara, Dean Jones, Andrew Symonds, Andy Bichel and Michael Kasporwicz.
Perth Scorchers went on to beat the Australian Legends by 50 runs.

CRICKET ON THIS DAY: Brendon McCullum hits the fastest ever test hundred

On Feb 20, 2016, Brendon McCullum hit the fastest test hundred off just 54 balls during the 2nd Test against Australia at Christchurch. This was McCullum's farewell test and he made the occasion memorable with the 145 run knock which included 6 sixes. His effort was two balls faster than the previous record 56-ball century scored by Viv Richards against England in Antigua in 1985-86, which was equalled by Misbah-ul-Haq against Australia in Abu Dhabi in 2014-15.

WATCH: Sri Lanka steals stunning victory - Australia vs Sri Lanka 2nd T20I at Geelong

Sri Lanka stunned Australia with a come from behind victory in the 2nd T20I played at Geelong. This was the first international match ever played at Geelong's Kardinia Park.

Sri Lanka won the toss and send Australia to bat first. Michael Klinger(43), Moises Henriques(56) and Ben Dunk(32) helped Australia post 173. In reply, Sri Lanka were 5 down for 40 runs in the 5th over and at that stage it looked like the game was all over for them. Asela Gunaratne(84*) then played a remarkable innings to take Sri Lanka to an improbable victory. Sri Lanka chased down 36 runs needed in the last two overs in superb style.

WATCH: South Africa win last over thriller - South Africa vs New Zealand 1st ODI at Hamilton

AB de Villiers and Andile Phehlukwayo held their nerves to clinch the victory in the last over of the first ODI against New Zealand at Hamilton.

The match was reduced to 34 over each as rain delayed the start. Quinton de Kock set the pace with his 64 ball 69 in the 208 run chase and was adjudged the Man of the Match.

WATCH: Michael Clarke's gutsy hundred against South Africa at Cape Town

Michael Clarke played a gutsy innings against South Africa to score an unbeaten 161 that helped Australia score 494 in the series deciding third test at Cape Town. Clarke faced a barrage of bouncers and he got hit often especially by deliveries from Morne Morkel. Australia went on to win the test and the series (2-1) that also helped them clinch the number one Test ranking.

CRICKET ON THIS DAY: Richard Levi hits the fastest ever T20I hundred

On Feb 19, 2012, Richard Levi went on to hit the fastest ever T20 International hundred when South Africa took on New Zealand in the 2nd T20I at Hamilton. Levi reached the century in just 45 balls and remained unbeaten on 117 hitting 13 sixes as South Africa easily chased down the target of 174 with 24 balls to spare.

WATCH: AB de Villiers' fastest century in ODI history

AB de Villiers hit the fastest ever hundred in ODI history during the 2nd ODI against West Indies at Johannesburg in 2015. He scored the century in just 31 balls and broke Corey Anderson's record who scored a 36-ball hundred against West Indies in Queenstown in 2014. de Villiers came on to bat in the 39th over and by the time he got dismissed in the 4th ball of the 50th over he had piled up 149 in just 44 balls.

Here are a bunch of other records that de Villiers broke during this terrific innings:

  • Fastest fifty - in just 16 balls. The previous record was held by Sanath Jayasuriya, who scored 50 of 17 balls against Pakistan in 1996.
  • Equalled the world record for the most sixes in an ODI innings - 16. Rohit Sharma also hit 16 sixes during his innings of 209 against Australia in 2013.
  • Strike rate of 339 - Highest strike rate for a 50-plus knock and the first time that a batsman has made a 100-plus score at a 300-plus strike rate

CRICKET ON THIS DAY: Chaminda Vaas takes hat-trick off the first three balls of the match

On Feb 14, 2003, Chaminda Vaas took a hat-trick off the first three balls he bowled in the World Cup clash against Bangladesh at Pietermaritzburg. Vaas dismissed Hannan Sarkar, Mohammad Ashraful and Ehsanul Haque to become the first ever cricketer to take three wickets off the first three deliveries of a one-day international. He also became the third person in one-day history to take two hat-tricks joining Wasim Akram and Saqlain Mushtaq. This was the third hat-trick in World Cup history.

Hashim Amla broke Virat Kohli's record to become the fastest ever to reach 24 ODI tons during the 5th ODI against Sri Lanka at Centurion. Amla scored 154 and constructed a 187 run partnership for the first wicket with Quinton de Kock (109) to power South Africa to a huge 384.

Ravichandran Ashwin becomes the fastest ever to reach 250 wickets in tests

Ravichandran Ashwin became the fastest to reach 250 test wickets during the one-off test against Bangladesh at Hyderabad when he dismissed Mushfiqur Rahim to claim the last wicket of Bangladesh's first innings. Ashwin reached the milestone in his 45th test and in the process bettered Dennis Lillee's record of 48 Tests by three matches. Anil Kumble previously held the Indian record reaching 250 wickets in 55 tests.

Yuvraj Singh hit a brilliant 93 in the 2nd ODI against West Indies in a low scoring match at Kingston in 2006.
West Indies scored 198 batting first with Ramnaresh Sarwan scoring an unbeaten 98. In reply, Yuvraj Singh's resistance ensured the match went into the last over with India needing 11 runs off it. Unfortunately, Yuvraj got bowled by Bravo in the fourth ball after hitting boundaries off the second and third ball.

Virat Kohli - Most double hundreds in successive series



Virat Kohli scored his fourth double century (204) during the one-off test against Bangladesh at Hyderabad. Kohli now has a double century in each of his previous four series, thus becoming the first player to do so. The first double hundred (200) came in the first test against West Indies at Antigua, the next one (211) came in the 3rd test at Indore against New Zealand and the third double hundred (235) was scored against England in the fourth test at Mumbai.

CRICKET ON THIS DAY: Anil Kumble takes 10 wickets in an innings

On this day, Feb 7, 1999, Anil Kumble became only the second player to take all ten wickets in an innings after England off-spinner Jim Laker. Pakistan was set a target of 420 in the 2nd test at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi. Kumble bagged all ten wickets for 74 runs as Pakistan got all out for 207.

Suresh Raina took a stunning catch to dismiss Suryakumar Yadav during the IPL match between Gujarat Lions and Kolkata Knight Riders. Yadav gloved the ball to slips off the bowling of Dwayne Smith, Raina leapt a long way to his left and took the catch with his right hand.

WATCH: West Indies chase down 308 with a wicket remaining in the test against Australia at Barbados

The third test match between West Indies and Australia at Barbados in 1999 was an absolute thriller with Brian Lara scoring an unbeaten 153 to take West Indies to victory on the 5th day when only a wicket was remaining. It was only the fourth time West Indies had scored more than 300 to win a Test.

Australia posted a total of 490 in the first innings on the back of hundreds from Steve Waugh and Ricky Ponting. In reply, West Indies managed to score only 329 with opener Sherwin Campbell scoring a hundred. Australia was bundled out for 146 in their second innings when Courtney Walsh did most of the destruction with his 5/39. West Indies requiring 308 for victory were 5/105 at one stage when Brian Lara and Jimmy Adams stuck together for a 6th wicket partnership of 133 runs. Curtly Ambrose joined Brian Lara for a 9th wicket partnership of 54 runs. Walsh then hung around with Lara as West Indies registered one of their finest victory of all time.

WATCH: Bees disrupt Sri Lanka vs South Africa ODI

A swarm of bees invaded the pitch at Wanderers during the 3rd ODI between South Africa and Sri Lanka. The match was disrupted twice, once during the 25th over and again during the 27th over, this time forcing the game to be officially stopped for about an hour.

WATCH: Yuzvendra Chahal takes 6 wickets against England in the 3rd T20I

Yuzvendra Chahal registered the best bowling figures by an Indian bowler as he took 6 wickets for 25 runs in the 3rd T20I against England at Bangalore. He triggered a collapse in the 14th over by dismissing Eoin Morgan when England were cruising at 119/2. England lost the next 7 wickets in 18 balls to get all out for 127.
The previous best bowling figures for India in T20's was Ravichandran Ashwin's 4/8 vs Sri Lanka at Visakhapatnam in 2016.

WATCH: MS Dhoni's 200th catch in Tests

MS Dhoni took the 200th catch of his career during the 3rd Test against England at Kolkata in 2012. Matt Prior tried to cut a delivery from Zaheer Khan but only managed to edge it to Dhoni. Only 13 wicketkeepers have taken 200 or more catches in tests with Mark Boucher of South Africa leading the list with 532 catches followed by Adam Gilchrist with 379 catches.
