WATCH: West Indies chase down 308 with a wicket remaining in the test against Australia at Barbados

The third test match between West Indies and Australia at Barbados in 1999 was an absolute thriller with Brian Lara scoring an unbeaten 153 to take West Indies to victory on the 5th day when only a wicket was remaining. It was only the fourth time West Indies had scored more than 300 to win a Test.

Australia posted a total of 490 in the first innings on the back of hundreds from Steve Waugh and Ricky Ponting. In reply, West Indies managed to score only 329 with opener Sherwin Campbell scoring a hundred. Australia was bundled out for 146 in their second innings when Courtney Walsh did most of the destruction with his 5/39. West Indies requiring 308 for victory were 5/105 at one stage when Brian Lara and Jimmy Adams stuck together for a 6th wicket partnership of 133 runs. Curtly Ambrose joined Brian Lara for a 9th wicket partnership of 54 runs. Walsh then hung around with Lara as West Indies registered one of their finest victory of all time.

Lara, Walsh get Windies home in final wicket thriller

ON THIS DAY IN 1999: In arguably his finest Test innings, Brian Lara scored 153 not out to almost singlehandedly deliver a win to the West Indies against Australia in Barbados. Courtney Walsh had to survive five deliveries from Jason Gillespie and Glenn McGrath to get the Windies home - and he did it with some of the most theatrical leaves you're likely to see.
