WATCH: A hat-trick completed across three overs and two days

On Dec 4, 1988, Merv Hughes registered one of the most unusual hat-trick in cricket history during the second test against West Indies at Perth. His hat-trick spanned across three overs, two days, two innings.

On Day 2 of the test, Hughes dismissed Curtly Ambrose off the last ball of the 122nd over of West Indies' first innings, then came back and dismissed Patrick Patterson off the first ball of the 124th over to end the West Indies innings. On Day 3, Australia were all out for 395 and few overs were left in the day for West Indies to bat in the 2nd innings. Hughes trapped Gordon Greenidge off the very first ball he bowled and completed the hat-trick.

Hughes took 5/130 and 8/87 in the match.
